Film Developers

This page will give you an idea of what film developers are still available today, so that you can make an informed decision on what developer to choose and use with your chosen film.

Ilford ID11
A fine grain general purpose developer for normal speed and contrast, this is my normal go to film developer.

Ilford Microfen
Is a one-bath speed increasing developer, with normal use allows 50% increase in film rating and only a little increase in graininess over a standard fine-grain developer.

Kodak T-Max
This is a good speed pushing developer for most films.

Agfa Rodinal ( now re-branded and sold as Adox Adonal )
A versatile one shot high-acutance developer, the edge effect gives it an apparent increase in sharpness over fine grain developers. Not a good developer for pushing.

Ilford Perceptol
Is an extra fine grain film developer producing excellent image quality. Designed for use when very fine grain negatives are required.

Kodak HC-110
Fine grain developer with low fog characteristics, gives full film speed and sharp fine-grain images.

Specialist film developers like PMK Pyro to be added soon.
